I have actually scanned through your links once or twice ...
But the reason why I wrote that was because I saw the Japanese movie Laundry (with Kobuzuka Yosuke) and in that movie he uses the formal speech regardless when so people know he is a little different (retarded). And then I heard from somewhere or someone that usually when people talk, they subsitute desu with da .. so those 2 pieces information together got stuck in my head and I threw away everything I have learned from my 15 units of Japanese from college...
I think I am in deep trouble now... I need to get my old books out from the shelf!! :-"(

Hi, it's me again. Just thought I'd let you know that you can't attach だ to i-adjectives. So the correct version would be 可愛いね。(normally かわいいね)
I wrote a bit about it here:

Everybody makes that same mistake one time or another.
Another common mistake is forgetting da when you must have it like...
X 静かと思う。
○ 静かだと思う。
Kinda confusing since the opposite is true for i-adjectives.
X かわいいだと思う。
○ かわいいと思う。
By the way, do you ever sleep? It's 8:00 here in Japan.
