A wonderful trip
A major side effect after a long vacation is the blues... You can't shake it off or fight it. You can only let the happy memories of a good vacation slowly get blurred by the demanding chores at work.
While in Japan, we covered a lot of ground this time.
Day 1: Ikebukuro(dinner), Harajuku(desserts), Omotesando(coffee), Ikebukuro (snacks)
Day 2: Asakusa(lunch, tea time), Ginza(dinner, coffee)
Day 3: Ikebukuro(lunch), Shinjuku(snacks), Nihonbashi(dinner), Yurakucho(coffee)
Day 4: Shibuya(lunch1, lunch2), Aoyama, Roppongi Hills/Nishi-Azubu(coffee), Ebisu(dinner), Shimokitazawa(no one feels like eating or drinking anything!)
Day 5: We went our separate ways...
Dad - Ginza/Marunouchi (lunch, coffee), Ikebukuro(movie and dinner)
Husband - Akihabara(lunch and shopping), Shinagawa (drink), Yokohama(dinner)
Me - Ikebukuro(lunch and shopping), Jiyugakoka(shopping and could not find the dessert place I was looking for), Shinagawa(drink), Yokohama(dinner)
Day 6: Onsen trip
Dad & 2 Friends- Tokyo Station(lunch) ---> 日光駅~中禅寺温泉
Husband and I - Shinjuku(lunch) Highway Bus ---> 河口湖温泉
The picture above is the view from our hotel room at Kawaguchiko at 6:30am. The lake was frozen on the top and you could hear the cracking sound as the sun rises. The onsen hotel we stayed at was just excellent! You get a full view of the famous Mt. Fuji whether you are waking up in your room, taking a hot outdoor bath, and eating breakfast at the banquet room.
Day 7: Return to Tokyo, Marunouchi (lunch), Jimbocho, Ochanomizu, Kanda, Ikebukuro(dinner, dessert) *was planning to go to Tsukishima but had to rush back to Ikebukuro at 8pm to meet up with dad. :-(
Day 8: Ikebukuro(breakfast), took dad to his hotel in Ginza, then I had to rush back to Harajuku for a few hours of shopping before headed back to Ikebukuro to take the Airport Limousine Bus ---> Narita Airport (late lunch).
There are still a few places that we didn't get a chance to go this time, which is good. It gives us more reasons to go back for our next trip!
Something I observed about the 3 of us during this trip:
1. No on wanted or ate ramen (nor Chinese, Thai, Indian...etc.)
2. We never got out of the hotel earlier than 11am :-P
3. We seldom get back to our hotel before 11pm
4. The 3 of us are good traveling companions
5. We can really walk - a lot!!
