Who Killed The Electric Car?

Work gets boring and unchallenging easily. What makes it more intolerable sometimes are the selfish and insecure people. But fortunately within my team, there are a few good people. They are nice and care beyond the work boundaries. It's important to have people like that to keep your sanity at work.

Who Killed The Electric Car is a recent recommendation from our movie guy in the team. It's an interesting documentary with insights into the making and the killing of the Electric Car. Some years ago, we would see those Electric Car chargers outside of Fry's Electronics and wonder how long it would take to charge up the car. Then all of a sudden, those charger stands just disappeared.

Then just last Friday, we finally came across the Zero-Emission Bus (ZEB) (only 3 in the whole San Jose) which is powered by a fuel-cell that converts hydrogen gas and oxygen into electricity to power the bus and emits no harmful pollutants into the air. It's about 6.2 million dollar per bus including maintenance.

Truck Stop

Someone in Miki, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan visited my site and I have no idea what that place translates to or where it is in Japan. So I decided to look it up. I think that's another way to learn Japanese and its geography. :-)

So Hyougo, Miki translates to: 兵庫県三木市 and here is the approximate location.

ババ抜き

My husband and I were playing the card game 「ババ抜き」 the other night while the Poker Tournament in Vegas show was on TV. We tried to play poker, but lost interest after a few hands and decided to play 「ババ抜き」and then a few rounds of Last Card. Just by chance, today I came across an article that talks about this once popular expression:

家付き、カー付き、婆抜き 「ババ抜き」

It might have become a 「死語」, but I am sure the 「ババ抜き」 part is still preferred today under most circumstances. :-P

映画

I finally saw "The Departed" last weekend. It started out good and I like the cast, but overall it's not very good, especially if you have seen the original Hong Kong version of the movie - Infernal Affairs, which is a 3-part movie. The Hong Kong version did a much better job in character building and overall story-telling without the excessive use of foul language. Anyway, I found Blood Diamond a much better movie in comparison to the list of nominated films.

Recently I have heard good things about this British movie (Cashback) so this is the next flick I am going to check out. I hope it is as good as the trailer looks which can be seen on the official site.

早起き生活

Getting up early in the morning has always been a big challenge for me and most members of my family. I stumbled across this 「早起き生活」 website today and was surprised to see so many people in Japan wake up between 5 to 7AM! That's pretty early!

Cute and available for adoption

This male, 1 year old kitty is available for adoption in Tokyo.
I have a feeling that it's a lost cat, but it is not wearing a cat collar... hmm.
Anyway, he looks pretty cute and mild-tempered.

Pretty face & good song

Was on the phone with my sister earlier. She rented the movie "The Holiday" and really enjoyed it. I saw it earlier, and I basically love all Jude Law's movies. So I told her to check out the other one which she has not seen - Alfie. Though some people complained the movie has too many close-up head shots of Jude, I just think that's the best part of it! :-)

Tired, Bad, Horrible

最近、仕事は毎日忙しくて、いつも寝足りない気持。
週末は、家にぶらぶらしていました。
お姉さんと電話で3時間しゃべった。
深夜11時から5時まで仕事のために試験を準備しました。
今日、朝10時半起きだった。ちょっと掃除して、猫たちと遊んだ。久しぶりに、1時間Google トークで大学時代の仲間とインスタント・ メッセージを話しました。
私達の今年のクリスマスに予定は、とっても 楽しみにしています!
数々の面白い書き込み(ブロク)を発見してので、一日中読んでいました。

This cute little kitten is locked in a cage, left outside a house in the rain with a dirty bowl of rice and completely stuck in an insanitary habitat with no cat litter. And this is in some outskirt island in Hong Kong. Outrageous!!! Can people who don't want a cat please just call the SPCA? Don't capture it and torture it PLEASE!!!!!
