幼児用椅子

I designed this chair for my daughter so she has something low to sit on. She actually loves diving into it more than sitting on it before going to sleep.

Lenovo or Mac?

Time to pick a new laptop at work. This time, even engineers can pick a MacBook Pro instead of just a list of Lenovo ThinkPads. To many people the choice is pretty much a no-brainer but to me, it's a tough one. I have not used a Mac for 13 years!!! I worried about the number of applications supported and having to form new computing habbits. I don't need to be "cool" but just want to get the work done quickly and effectively. I have only till end of today to decide or it will be defaulted to the cheapest Lenovo model on the list ... :-(

**Ok, ordered the Mac...

Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes

Will this book fit into my Christmas stocking?
*Oh, just learned that bread flour can not be substituted with all-purpose flour!! And the dough need to be in the fridge for 12 to 14 hours before baking!!! Now that's secret #1 and #2 to making good bread!

1歳の誕生日

I was expecting her to do the "cup cake dive" with her bare hands or even toss the cake around, but interestingly she only wanted to tackle it with a fork! I guess she is really a 1 year old now! Congrats! :)

Some days, I enjoy looking at fancy chandeliers.
Other days, I find simple chic the most charming.

ピクニック (2)

So, we did go picnic last Saturday. The weather was so nice and we had a fun time being outdoor. This is my daughter's first picnic at the park and I am glad it went well. There were a few birthday parties at the park, with Pinatas hanging from the trees and children at play which was fun just watching. I made those pecan cookies above from a recipe I found on the internet. It was the first time I made it and even though I just combined all the ingredients without following the steps, they came out VERY DELICIOUS!! Only one cookie is in KUMA shape as I was not sure if I can press and roll the dough for this cookie recipe. But it turns out great! I am planning to make more soon.

By the way, a few things learned from planning this picnic.
1. It's ok to over pack but no need to bring everything to the picnic ground.
2. It's not smart to buy ingredients and then try to cook it 2 hours before the picnic.
3. We should try to leave home EARLY while there are still 4-5 hours of sun left.
4. Don't be so picky about having to get the gourmet sandwiches from a deli more than 5 miles away from the park especially when we are already running late.
5. A good variety of food is key to a fun picnic. Don't just have a main and some drinks. Desserts, sweets, snacks - the more the merrier!!

I don't have time to put together a photo album for my daughter so this is basically my photo album of her. Someone once told me picture clarity is secondary. The most important thing is the composition. I think I agree. Some of the more interesting pics are from the lomo and pola cameras. And in this case, a wrong setting. :)

産後のトレーニング - 縄跳び

How to get back in shape after having a baby? I notice I have returned to my pre-pregnancy weight but there is still unwanted fat around the belly. So it does not go away naturally with all the hard work of taking care of a baby. I need to do target area workout.

Like everyone else, I don't like doing sit-ups. So I did a search and found this routine that I am going to try. It should take only 10 minutes and I can do it at home (maybe in the backyard...) after a long stressful day at work.

10-Minute Exercise Routine without going to the Gym
The first two minutes: Jump Rope. Begin by performing two jumps for each turn of the rope.
Minutes two to three: Squat Thrust into a Push Up.
Minutes three to four: Jump Rope with only one jump per turn. Keep thinking, The fat is melting away.
Minutes four to five: Back to the Squat Thrust and Push Up only this time you are going to add the Side Plank. After completing your squat thrust and push up, you are going to lift and rotate your left arm off of the ground and over your head. Your left foot will rotate and rest on top of you right foot. And you will rotate your neck so you are looking up at your ceiling. Rotate back to the center and repeat on the other side. When finished, hop back into your squat position, stand up and start again. Keep thinking, no more belly.
Minutes five and six: Jump Rope. Same as minutes three and four. keep thinking, I am losing body fat.
Minutes six and seven: Back to the Squat Thrust and Push Up only this time you are going to add the Leg Lift. This is the same as minutes two and three only this time you will lift the toes of one foot about twelve inches off of the ground only after you have performed your push up. Lower your foot and repeat on the other side. Hop back up to your squat position, stand up, and start again. Keep thinking, goodbye belly.
Minutes seven and eight: Jump Rope. Same as minutes three and four. Keep thinking, my belly is getting smaller.
Minutes eight and nine: Back to the Squat Thrust and Push Up only this time you are going to add Mountain Climbers. Repeat everything as in minutes two and three only this time after your push up, you will quickly jog in place from your push up position. Make sure you bring your knees up to your chest on each rotation. Perform 5 jogs and repeat this entire process.
Minutes nine and ten: Jump Rope. Same as you first two minutes. Keep thinking. If I do this everyday, I will lose belly fat.
