All I want for Valentine's Day...
is just being able to spend some relaxing time at home with the people (and pets) I love and enjoy a nicely prepared meal. That's really all there is to it for me. So every weekend could easily be Valentine's Day! :)
Mmm... Since Valentine's Day is on a Saturday, maybe I should pre-order a dark chocolate raspberry mousse cake for the occasion. YUM!

25 Random Things about Me
Recently I have been tagged to write 25 random things about myself. My friend did an excellent job with hers as it was both funny and fun to read. I've really learned so much more about her than I would otherwise just exchanging email back and forth.
I am not good at writing or telling story, so I'll need a lot of time to come up with 25 things to tell. So far, I could think of only 3-4 things... but I am planning to start on it.

What to cook
Yesterday was one of those days that I couldn't decide what I want to eat. I have had an exhausting week with 2 presentations, 1 demo and a few status reports, sleeping only 5 hours on average. In the morning, I had oatmeal, an egg and some black tea. For lunch, I had some pasta and 2 mini quiches and some orange-banana-pineapple juice. For dinner, I had a hearty tomato soup with baguette. It's pretty frustrating sometimes to figure out what feels right with the taste buds, especially when you are not at your top condition. So I have decided to keep a box full of pictures of good food we had, like the above, in the kitchen for quick reference. It's important to be able to visualize the food on the plate sometimes instead of just staring into the fridge.

地鶏
Jidori - a word you'll now see being used in the menu of fancier restaurants in San Francisco. It caught me off-guard and I thought it meant "organic" or "all natural".
But free-range is not necessary organic, right?
Another word you'll see more often in an English menu these days is Kombu (昆布). I guess people are really expanding not only in culinary taste but also its diction.

Pictures of 2008
I have been way too busy to even think clearly since my kid's sick. So no, have not been reading or studying Japanese for a long, long time. But I saw these links with wonderful photos and felt I've traveled around the globe for a good 35 minutes!
